Books are a team sport

Thank you, one-and-all, for your support these past six weeks. Your donations, notes, thumbs-ups, and response to my book propelled me through the Clarion West Write-a-thon. I want to thank the greatest supporter, my amazing wife, Molly. She endured the long writing hours, endless website, WAT page, and social media updates. But she never stopped cheering me on. I really couldn't have done it without her.

Your generous contributions will impact the lives of developing writers in the coming year, and I am so proud to know you all. As for my Write-a-thon progress on Blackfire, I rewrote 34 chapters for a total of 80k words and made it to the midpoint of the book. Next, I'll complete the draft and begin the query process with agents in September.

I appreciate your reading along for these six weeks of newsletters, and as a gift to us both, I'll return to a more manageable monthly schedule. As a preview, next month's newsletter will cover the draft wrap-up and how I prepare for the agent hunt. A world of unknowns, to be sure, but I love a good challenge.
